Do you use Card, sir?

A very familiar question from Credit Card call center trying to sell Credit Cards.
Colleague: Yes, I do use Cards.
CC Girl: Which card do you use sir?
Colleague: Ration Card.

Call ended immediately.

Pity the sales girls in Call Center. Wish to know whether anyone really gets to sell thru this sales campaign. If only they had skills of persons who can sell ice to eskimos or sell Infrastructure bonds to Bangaloreans(2nd example was lifted from http://poomanam.blogspot.com/ very funny blog ...indeed).

Nice post ...funny ... Hope you know the realities behind those who sit there and make calls ...I spent half a day of induction as I work for a credit card company and needed to spend some time in each of the processes including the call centre ...in the 25-30 calls I made 4-5 were obscene people ..some even invited me to their place... I laughed it off as weirdos ...but those poor girls face such situation day in and day out as part of their job to earn some meagre bucks which might help them in their studies ..
Also these are part of the sales team . Marketing function is a step removed from sales and marketing strategies are what make you buy a nike or a lenevo as soon as you save enough of your salary to splurge it . Selling ice to eskimos is not a marketing strategy but a good sales strategy .Marketing covers the four P's i.e product , price3 , promotion ( includes advrtisements) and place ie. distribution of the product and hence cannot be used loosely with the term sales .
Just thought to clarify things as humor is good and laughter thebest medicine but not at the cost of wrong information .

Mistakes corrected.

Just pun intended. I respect every profession and can sense the realities under which they work. My friend was in such a call centre job for 6 months before he could land on a IT testing job.

Wish India soon has DND (Do Not Disturb) registry implemented and these people get to work with lot more respect.
